Hospital CIMA Hermosillo

Hospital CIMA Hermosillo was designed, constructed and operated by IHC until its divestiture. The hospital had a medical office building adjacent to the facility and was located in Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora, Mexico, with a population of a 2.8MM. Large employers in the city such as Ford, Tyco and McCulloch drew workers from a wide geographic area.

The Hospital was a 48-bed (38 medical beds, surgical beds, 6 ICU beds, 4 NICU beds) multi-specialty, tertiary hospital with build-out capacity of 96 beds. The hospital had 556 credentialed members on its medical staff.  Hospital CIMA Hermosillo provided a full range of diagnostic, emergency, medical and surgical services. The 24-hour Emergency Room had a technologically advanced trauma area and operating room with a total of five surgical suites, servicing both inpatient and outpatient demand. Ancillary departments provided diagnostic and treatment modalities with state-of-the-art imaging technology.

Accreditations: Hospital CIMA Hermosillo was awarded a certification with special commendation for the hospital’s quality assurance and continuing quality performance program. CIMA Hermosillo was the only private hospital in the state of Sonora to have received this certification. In 2008 the hospital was first IHC hospital accredited by Joint Commission International, and the first in Mexico. In 2004 it was named as the top hospital in Mexico for quality and patient safety by the Mexican federal government accreditation body.

As a start-up greenfield project, the facility reached breakeven in 42 months and the hospital grew to US $21MM dollars in revenue, 14,100 adjusted patient days and 2,400 annual surgeries before its divestiture.
